Veterinarian Dr Susanna Romana Brida-Hofherr is looking for
a home for a cat she rescued from the SPCA, but there is a catch.
The cat is afraid of men. The cat was part of a group of 10
cats that somehow found their way to Klinik Kembiri, a City Hall
and SPCA-managed neutering clinic.
“The clinic is also a confinement area for strays, which are
usually dogs. All of a sudden, there were these 10 cats in a rusty
cage,” said Dr Brida-Hofherr.
“I felt sorry for the cats because they were in a place
surrounded by barking dogs and the staff wasn’t sure what to do
with the cats.”
That was the start of her quest to find suitable homes for the
cats. Four have already been adopted while another four are going
to Austria, after online pictures of them caught the attention of
friends.
While plans are being made to send the cats abroad, the
remaining two felines laze around in Dr Brida-Hofherr’s home with
her eight other cats, who were once strays themselves in the
Philippines.
All seems well, except for one female grey and white cat (which
was unfortunately hiding from the photographer) that is afraid of
men.
“She is totally afraid of men and runs away from them and
hides. I hope to find a good home for her,” said Susanna.
“But there is nothing special about these cats and anyone who
would like to adopt them should take into consideration that cats
live long lives and proper arrangements should be made to take
care of them,’’ she added.
