JAKARTA: A 39-year-old Indonesian man "strongly suspected" of being infected with the deadly bird flu virus has died in hospital, a medical spokesman said yesterday.

The latest suspected victim came from Jakarta and was admitted on Monday to the Sulianti Saroso hospital, but died on Tuesday, hospital spokesman Ilham Patu said.

In Vietnam, a doctor said bird flu might have killed a three-year old child. The toddler from the southern province of Hau Giang died on Monday, seven hours after being hospitalised for severe lung infection.

Meanwhile, Taiwan said it has discovered low pathogenic H7N3 and H5N2 strains of the avian flu in migratory bird droppings on the outskirts of Taipei. Agencies
