Japan to cull 90,000 more chickens

TOKYO, Tues. --- Japan will cull 90,000 more chickens after a bird flu outbreak at a farm in northern Japan, authorities said today.

A virus of the H5 strain was detected among chickens at Tsukuba farm in Ibaraki prefecture (state), 100km north of Tokyo, Ibaraki said in a statement.

In Kiev, the outbreak of bird flu in Ukraine has expanded to at least 12 villages on the Crimean peninsula, the country’s top emergency official said yesterday. --- AP.
