Malacca SPCA does its bit for animals
Metro, 19 Dec 2005

THE Malacca Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) raised RM4,700 through its Christmas fete recently in its ongoing effort to build a new animal shelter and educational centre.

Its chairman Vincent Low said although the sum fell short of the targeted RM20,000, he believed that the exposure had served in raising public awareness about cruelty towards animals.

“Our project is named Save Our Shelter (S.O.S). We’re looking at an end target of RM500,000 for materials and purchase of land. We are also embarking on a Buy A Brick Appeal and Recycling programme” he said.

Kota Melaka MP Wong Nai Chee, who visited the Malacca SPCA’s stall set up in Mahkota Parade during the Christmas fete, praised the organisation for its efforts in planting the seed towards awareness of animal rights.
