SPCA refutes eviction rumours
Malay Mail, 8 Dec 2005

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 8 The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is staying put at its present site in Ampang Jaya and has refuted rumours that it is facing eviction.

SPCA has not received any eviction or relocation notice to date.

"The rumours are probably due to the insecurities of well-meaning individuals, given the surrounding land being systematically acquired and developed," said its chairman, Christine Chin, in a statement to The Malay Mail. SPCA has been at its current premises for the last 47 years and certainly has no plans to relocate.

"Still we are concerned about the rumours," stressed Chin.

The Malay Mail had last month front-paged SPCA's plight that it was not only facing acute financial crisis, but also an uncertain future as property developers were eyeing its plot of land in Jalan Kerja Ayer Lama.
