Malay Mail, 24 Feb 2006

Those suspected of having contracted avian flu were sent for check-ups at the emergency unit of the Kuala Lumpur Hospital yesterday.

A check by The Malay Mail revealed that several patients were taken into the unit’s special treatment room.

However, no details of the patients were available.

It is learnt the hospital’s deputy director, Dr Ghazali Hasni Hassan, attended a meeting on containing the bird flu virus at the Health Ministry in Putrajaya.

On Wednesday, Health Minister Datuk Dr Chua Soi Lek said tests conducted on five of the seven people admitted to the hospital for checks on the H5N1 bird flu virus turned out negative.
