Life Insurance Policies Cover Bird Flu, Says Liam

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 24 (Bernama) -- The Life Insurance Association of Malaysia (LIAM) assured the public Friday that any medical or hospitalization treatment for bird flu will be covered in the medical and health insurance policies.

"Anyone who has purchased a medical and health policy for more than 30 days are eligible to claim from the insurance company for treatment and hospitalization," it said in a statement.

The association also said that coverage on death arising from bird flu would take immediate effect for any life insurance policies.

Policyholders are advised to contact their respective life insurance companies for further clarification on the coverage of their medical and life policies, it added.
