KUALA LUMPUR, Sun. — Five people with flu-like symptoms, warded
at Kuala Lumpur Hospital since Friday, have been certified free
of the bird flu virus.
Health Ministry communicable diseases control director Datuk Dr
Ramlee Rahmat said the test results on the five were negative
and they were expected to be discharged today.
"The most important thing is that they are free from the deadly
bird flu virus," he said.
Dr Ramlee said since yesterday, there had been no new admissions
of suspected bird-flu cases. |
The five, three girls aged four, 13 and 14, a 44-year-old man
and 40-year-old woman, were admitted to HKL on Friday with
fever, cough and flu.
They are from four villages off Jalan Genting Klang, the scene
of a bird flu outbreak which killed scores of chickens.
Dr Ramlee said checks on houses and residents within 300m radius
of the bird flu-hit area did not yield any cases of humans
infected with the disease.
"The situation is under control," he said. |
