PETALING JAYA: A 17-year-old girl who came down with fever after playing with her pet chickens was warded in Kuala Lumpur Hospital on Sunday. "The girl is not from the H5N1 bird flu virus outbreak area. It is just part of a precautionary measure to admit her for observation," said Health Minister Datuk Dr Chua Soi Lek yesterday. |
"We'll know by her blood test report. She came to us as she was worried after touching chickens," he said after officiating the ground breaking ceremony of Tropicana Medical Centre in Kota Damansara yesterday. The girl is the 16th person to be warded in the hospital for suspected bird flu fever. The other 15 have been discharged after their blood tested negative for the H5N1 virus. |
