China's sixth bird flu death

BEIJING: A 35-year-old poultry butcher has become China's sixth human death from bird flu, the Health Ministry said.

State media reported yesterday that the woman's Jan 11 death in Zhoujiaxiang, near Jianyang, in the southwestern province of Sichuan brought the country's total number of human cases to nine.

In Indonesia, the health ministry said a toddler who died this week had tested positive for bird flu after initial results were inconclusive. ­ Agencies
