Girl, the stray dog that the veterinarian thought would be paralyzed for life, is up on its feet again.

On Aug 4 last year, StarMetro highlighted the case of Girl, who was knocked down by a car and ran over by a bus.

Veterinarian Dr See Kok Ping who attended to the dog initially thought that the lower half of Girl would be paralyzed.

“A lot of people came to visit Girl and we’ve collected about RM800 in donations. We’re very grateful for that,” said Dr See, adding that the money was used for her treatment at the clinic.

Veterinarian Dr Lee Seen Yin, also from See Veterinary Medical Centre in Sri Petaling, said Girl's recovery was amazing.

“During the first two months, we put her through therapy, massaged her muscles and fed her nerve medicine and other supplements. Then we saw movements in her legs and we were hopeful,” said Dr Lee.

Currently, Girl still has problems with bladder control but it can now walk and run without any difficulties.

Girl gets excited when taken out for a walk and would dart about as soon as she is outside the clinic.

Back to normal: Girl can now run and walk again and gets excited when taken out for a walk.

Dr Lee said well wishers who came to see Girl said they were reluctant to adopt her because it was paralyzed so they gave money to pay for her treatment instead.

The good Samaritan who sent Girl to the clinic could not take the dog in as she already has dogs of her own.

Girl would be sent to Furry Friends Farm, a safe haven for strays in Kundang, Selangor, and the kind person is willing to bear the cost of Girl's stay there until it is adopted.

However, she hopes that someone would adopt Girl so that it would have a good home to stay in and get the attention it deserves.

“Now that Girl can walk again, those who were initially interested in adopting her can call us,” said Dr Lee.

Those who are interested in adopting Girl can call Dr See at 03-9056 4435 or 012-330 2911.
