The show, organized by IOI Mall Bandar Putra Kulai in collaboration with Malaysian Kennel Association, attracted over 2,000 people.

There were various demonstrations and booths informing the public on dog adoption and how to take care of pets.

It was beginner’s luck for Yip Siew Siong, 35, and his three-year-old Mongrel named Nunu as they bagged the first prize in the fun agility category.

Yip said he was surprised they won as he hardly had time to train his pet due to a busy work schedule.

“I entered her in the competition just for the fun.

“I have not given her any special training besides the normal walks and runs,” he said, adding that Nunu won a hamper of canine goodies, gift vouchers and a trophy.

“Nunu loves eggs and it is easy to feed her as she is not picky.

“The win was a bonus and I am proud of her,” said an elated Yip, who works as an electrician.

Meanwhile, 28-year-old Sean Teng and his French Bulldog nicknamed King Kong, emerged winners in the overall breed standards, movements and fore and hindquarters category.

Teng said he brought King Kong to the country after finishing his studies in Taiwan a year ago.

“I spent more than RM100 a month on King Kong’s dog biscuits and more on grooming material,” he said adding that he took the dog for walks three times daily.

Teng, who has more than 10 dogs, planned to have King Kong competing at overseas contests.
