Kenny Rogers Roasters opens in Borneo

KOTA KINABALU: Popular chain restaurant, Kenny Rogers Roasters opened its second outlet in Kota Kinabalu at 1Borneo Hypermall yesterday.

The restaurant promotes healthy eating in line with its tagline of ‘Less fat, Less salt, Less calories’ since its inception in the country 15 years ago.

“You cannot find any fried food on our menu. Our dishes are steamed, baked or roasted,” said Esther Woo, brand manager of Berjaya Roasters (M) Sdn Bhd.

“The company will organise its 4th fund raising charity run in Kuala Lumpur on July 5, where some 1,600 runners including 800 underprivileged people will be taking part,” said Esther.

The company is currently running its 4th healthy watch programme where eight pairs of contestants joined by a pair of celebrities will dine at Kenny Rogers’ restaurants three times a week for eight weeks. The winners will be announced on June 26.

Kenny Rogers’ famous rotisserie chicken is said to be roasted for at least 50 minutes, which reduces the amount of grease.

The restaurant has 48 outlets nationwide and plans to add another 15 outlets by 2009.
