MARANG, Mar 22:
A male sun
bear roaming in Kampung Tok Rimau became today the
latest casualty of contact with humans.
The bear was first seen three days
ago.
The villagers reported the bear's presence to the
Wildlife and National Parks Department in the afternoon.
"But at 9pm, I saw it in my backyard.
"I immediately alerted a Rela member who arrived minutes
later with a policeman to shoot the bear," Ibrahim
Ismail, 46, said.
Early this month, Rela members shot a female sun bear
after it was found foraging in Felda Kerteh 6 in Dungun.

Four days later, a cub was captured by villagers and
sent to the Malacca Zoo.
Sadly, the male sun bear killed today had its teeth and
nails removed by villagers.
