MUMBAI: INDIA has largely completed culling the entire chicken population of more than 75,000 in four villages in a western state to contain a second outbreak of avian flu in poultry, authorities said yesterday. The latest outbreak, in backyard poultry in Jalgaon district in Maharashtra, was the highly pathogenic H5N1 strain of bird flu, but it has not infected the people so far. |
