PET owners can now send their pets to a “hotel” when they are away. Named De’Ritz Hotel, it is the first “pet hotel” in Malaysia

The “hotel,” which is in the premises of Pet Safari Kuala Lumpur (PSKL) in Ikano Power Centre, Mutiara Damansara, provides five-star amenities – by animal standards, that is – such as cool, clean emporium with multitude of kennels and catteries.

The hotel, which occupies about 1,212 sq m of Pet Safari, is fully air-conditioned and can be accessed by taking the cargo lift in the loading bay.

Besides the hotel, there is also a veterinary clinic and a pet shop, which sells pedigrees and exotic pets as well as pet food and paraphernalia that occupy Pet Safari’s 8,485 sq m premises.

PSKL Communications/PR manager Meem Abdul Rahman said the kennels and catteries are individually ventilated and isolated from the public’s view.

Drainages are also separated from the mall’s main drainage system.

”The animals are ‘let loose’ in a playground under the supervision of a veterinarian,” said Meem.

She said the rates are affordable. Owners with cats and small dogs weighing less than 10kg are charged RM35 per day, while those with big dogs weighing more than 10kg are charged at RM45 per day, which includes five-star bed and breakfast.

Meem said checking in is very simple.

“The pet is checked in to its “room” after a through check-up by the veterinarian. The owner is to fill up a form, which is then signed by the owner and hotel,” she said. is

Pooches and felines that stay at least seven days in the hotel will be given a free shampoo.

There is also an area for customers to leave their dogs when they visit the outlet.

Meem said Pet Safari assures pet owners that they are dealing with people who are experts in pet care as only the best are recruited.
