IPOH Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA) is holding a charity dinner to raise funds for its shelter and to support Madam Kang Gaik ee Animal Shelter Hoem in Taiping.

The dinner will be held at Tow Boo Keong Hall on Oct 30 at 7.30pm.

ISPCA vice-president Goh Hue Lang said the dinner was an annual event to raise funds for the 200 stray animals now in the Jalan Gopeng shelter. It costs about RM8,000 per month for their upkeep.

“There are 140 dogs and 70 cats. This year we hope to raise RM75,000 which will be used for running the ISPCA. A portion will be channeled towards Kang’ shelter in Taiping”, she said.

Kang made headlines several years ago for having used her life savings to take in strays in Penang. Now she provides a home for 140 dogs, spending RM180 a month on them.

Those who wish to help can book a table for the charity dinner at RM500 per table (for 10 persons) or participate

in a ribbon-cutting ceremony at either RM200 or RM300 per person.
