A firefly's light is a cold light with  virtually no heat. By comparison, a normal electric light bulb gives off only 10% of its energy as light while 90% is wasted as heat.

Many hamsters only blink one eye at a time.

Some species of seals can dive up to 1,000 feet deep. As they dive, heart rate is slowed to 4-15 beats per minute.  Oxygen is used up more slowly this way, so they can stay underwater for more than 30 minutes.
